Cambridge Terrace
This largely untouched 1910-built Villa was transformed into a light-filled, low-maintenance family home through a carefully considered renovation and addition. With a focus on maximising natural light, introducing subtle moments of colour, and creating a playful yet functional environment, the design supports the dynamic lifestyle of a young, energetic family. Significant site constraints—including a 12m exclusion zone around a protected rear tree—required strategic spatial planning to accommodate the garage, pool, and alfresco without incurring major costs. The result is a home that opens effortlessly to the outdoors, with large stacking sliders and casual kitchen seating allowing easy supervision of outdoor play from key internal zones like the kitchen and study.
The redesign supports both everyday family life and frequent entertaining, incorporating a temperature-controlled wine cellar, butler’s pantry, mudroom laundry, generous study, and private master suite. Thoughtful spatial planning during the master plan stage ensured the full wish list was achieved. Durable and tactile finishes—such as polished concrete, leather, coloured laminates, and timber—bring warmth, texture, and longevity to the home, while subtle injections of colour add a sense of fun. The seamless connection between inside and out has elevated the way the family lives, creating a space that is both joyful and deeply intentional.
