Situated on the iconic King William Road, this internal renovation and addition to a 1900s heritage villa was designed to function as both a family home and a display space for a custom home builder. Balancing these dual purposes required highly considered spatial planning and a refined material palette that reflects the client’s contemporary aesthetic while respecting the home's original architecture. Retaining the existing swimming pool added complexity to the layout, prompting smart solutions including a compact kitchen and butler’s pantry pod, integrated entertainment and storage units, and a streamlined mudroom/laundry—all within tight site constraints.
To connect indoor and outdoor spaces, a large stacking slider and window seat were introduced, framing views of the pool and offering a relaxed space for guests or quiet morning reading. The lighting strategy was equally intentional: avoiding ceiling downlights, we used wall-mounted uplighting and joinery-integrated strip lighting to create a moody, calming ambiance. Our expertise in spatial planning was key to the project’s smooth delivery—collaborating closely with our in-house construction team during documentation allowed us to anticipate and resolve issues early. The result is a home that functions effortlessly across both professional and personal uses, delivered on time and within budget.
