The Crescent
This mid-century modern home in Crafers, rich in character, needed thoughtful updates to better suit the rhythm of a busy family who loved to cook, entertain, and spend time together. The existing kitchen was small, lacked storage, and had low, impractical surfaces. While functionality was a key driver, preserving original features—like the stramit ceiling, terrazzo floors, timber cladding, and strong indoor-outdoor flow—was essential to the clients.
Relocating the kitchen unlocked the home’s potential, allowing for a spacious layout centred around a large island bench—a new hub for gathering, cooking, and connection. An adjacent hallway was cleverly repurposed to include a walk-in pantry and linen storage near the laundry. New materials, including Polytec Florentine Walnut and Topiary, were carefully selected to complement the home’s warm palette, while crisp white surfaces offered a contemporary contrast to the existing brick and render, enhancing the space without disrupting its original charm.
